San Francisco Adventures Part 3- 4th of July!

Welcome to my 3rd installment
of my current series of my adventures
in San Francisco this summer.

If you'd like to catch up before reading on,
catch Part 1 or Part 2.

Continuing on from where I left on in my last blog...

We had fallen asleep the night before,
watching the first half of the original movie Sabrina

The next day was the 4th of July and
we had no commitments!

Alysa made me a delicious breakfast
than we decided to climb back in bed and watch the rest of the movie.
Her cat joined us too.

I borrowed these photos from Alysa.

After finishing the fabulous movie,
which was Alysa's first time watching it.
We decided we needed to take a nap.
(You see, aside from frozen yogurt,
napping is our next favorite thing)

We slept for two hours and woke up around 3pm.
Without guilt I can say it was glorious.

At this point we did decide it was time to
head out in the city and take on
another day of adventures.

We hopped on the train and headed downtown.

On the way we saw a sign for crepes and gelato
and immediately got off at the next stop and headed back.

No regrets there either. It was delicious!

We headed to an artsy part of town after our snack stop.
Alysa was on the hunt for combat boots,
to which she was successful in finding
AND
a pair of white boots too that she immediately put on
and started wearing right then and there in the store.

While in this part of town we stopped at a cute
coffee shop to recharge and get a bite to eat.
I liked their wall of stickers that others had added to it.

Notice the floral scarf I am wearing,
from my shopping adventures from the day before.
I still wear it almost every day.

Once the successful shopping trip was complete,
we headed downtown to get closer to the bay
to watch the fireworks that night.

We got to the pier early knowing it would be crowded.
We had fun eating yummy things like fresh clam chowder
(the real stuff is so much better than from a can)
watching all the people dressed up for the holiday,
and just enjoying the view.

We did make a point to eat a lot of junk food too
like corn dogs and candy corn.
This was a one time thing for us,
so we enjoyed it.

After we scouted out an area to sit and
wait for the fireworks,
we ended up sitting next to this cute lady
who we of course started chatting too.

She had an incredible life story to tell
that she was very modest about.
We learned that she had lived all over,
including Hawaii where she got her Doctorate,
and many other states.

She was currently in San Fran because
she was asked to become the director of a new museum
only a year and a half old!
(more details about this museum in my next blog)

We really enjoyed getting to know her,
and she invited us to come to the museum the next day,
which we readily agreed too.

The fireworks were beautiful,
and what was really cool is that the city
had the same fireworks show happen
at the same time, in two different areas.
One was being shot off the Golden Gate Bridge,
and one was being shot off of a barge in the bay.

We could see both very clearly and they were perfectly timed.
Very unusual and neat experience!

On our way back home
(which took a very long time because of all the people at the bay)
we happened upon an impromptu dance party in a square
started by a roller skating club.
It was a lot of fun and we got a little into it ourselves.

We did eventually make it back home safely,
and decided to watch the updated version of the
movie Sabrina.

Of course only made it through half of this one too,
because we were so tired from playing hard all evening.

....zzzzzzz

and the Golden Gate Bridge, look for my 4th and final blog
