NYC- Dance Teacher Summit

I was able to attend the
Dance Teacher Summit in Manhattan, in August.

I stayed with my dear friend
Christopher Klaich, on the island
whom you might remember from
this blog post.

As usual for each time when I
attend the Big Apple,
I try to cram in as much as possible.

This was also my first time away
from my son R,
who was 4 1/2 months at this time.
L is an amazing husband/father
and supported me in going on this adventure!

the Trump Tower

one of the highlights was taking class from
An inspirational women who I admire
as a choreographer, artist, and female
leading the path for women choreographers
in the dance world.

I made sure to play in the city
and this was not hard to do since I was staying
up town from the conference and hard to commute every day.

Made a mandatory stop here for a sugar pick-me-up.

I went to the MOCA
(Museum of Contemporary Art)
but only got to admire the lobby and the patio.
I did not have time to go through the gallery.
(very disappointed about this)

One of the highlights of the adventure
was that I got to watch the dance company
BODYART perform, in Brooklyn.
My dear friend Brett G. invited me
and from the beginning to the end,
I was in awe of the beautiful of setting
and the graceful dancing.

A fun surprise was that a fellow dancer
from my alma matter the University of Arizona,
Kayla Farrish, was in the performance!

With all the times I have been to the city,
I hadn't been down to ground zero.
I made a point to go there this time around.
I am so grateful I did and was humbled
by the experience.

I got to meet up with the beautiful
Laura K., another dancer from the UofA.
We actually ventured down to the 9/11 Memorial
together, and then joined together on our
mutual love (read: addiction) frozen yogurt!

Laura K. and I enjoying our fro yo together!

Although this post is more about my adventures in the city,
attending the Dance Teacher Summit
was very educational, inspiring and motivating.

I left this trip grateful for the reconnecting I made
with so many dear friends,
inspirational experiences, and many fond new memories.

Until next time New York!
